Processing example

Parts: automotive air conditioning expansion valve

Work material: 6061 T6
Machine:  Vertical machining center
Coolant supply: external cooling
Processing position:  A,B,C,D four holes in valve body
Current tool: carbide cutting tool, hole roughness: Ra1.6~3.2, tool life: 60000 holes.

Customer requirement : roughness should be improved greatly and must be less than Ra0.4; tool life is not less than the current tool; the costs are allowed to rise slightly.

Through customer’s processing test, the PCD cutting tool developed by Shanghai Nagoya is stable at Ra0.2 in the key and strict roughness requirement of customer, and the average tool life is increased by more than 2 times, but the cost is only slightly increased, it is far beyond customer’s expectation.
